He started out as a model and then broke through as an actor and singer with Viva Artists. Today, Lance Raymundo is still in the spotlight as he competed in “Tawag Ng Tanghalan (TNT) Celebrity Champions” on hit TV noontime show, It’s Showtime.

He is currently juggling his schedule between his two careers — music and acting. He is in the middle of shooting the final part of a movie trilogy by director Elwood Perez. He also just shot his music video for an upcoming Christmas single from Viva Records featuring his real-life fit friends, including coach Culver Padilla and Miss Philippines Fire Alexandra Dayrit.

It is incredible how despite his packed schedule, Lance works out almost every single day. He has an impressive physique and has seemingly found the fountain of youth. He takes great care of his skin and body through a healthy and active lifestyle. We caught up with him to dig up his secrets.

THE PHILIPPINE STAR: How do you stay in shape?

LANCE RAYMUNDO: I stay in shape by maintaining a healthy and well-balanced diet combined with intense weight training with my coach Culver Padilla at Gold’s Gym three to four times a week.

Why is it important to keep fit?

A fit body brings us countless benefits beyond aesthetics. Being fit enhances the quality of our lives because it reduces risks of disease, injuries, etc. I’ve also noticed that I make better decisions when I’m at peak condition.

Apart from working out how do you take care of yourself?

I drink a lot of water, I fast at least once a week and I take care of my skin with regular visits to iSkin Aesthetic Lifestyle.

How has keeping fit helped you stay young?

I believe that keeping fit greatly influences how the rest of my body functions. From blood circulation to sweating off toxins... everything is in peak condition when I’m fit. Being fit also has a positive effect on one’s emotional well-being. As we know, the brain is the big boss of our entire system so when the mind is happy, the heart and body are happy and we stay young.

Do you follow any special diet?

I subscribe to a diet plan under Livewellmeals food delivery. It’s a custom-made diet plan created to suit my fitness goals, which is to stay lean and ripped.

How much sleep do you get? Is it enough?

I aim for eight hours of sleep daily. It’s unavoidable that I sometimes get less than eight hours when it’s shooting season, but I always compensate by taking naps whenever I can.

Does it drive you crazy when you don’t get to work out?

I feel like there’s something lacking in my week. Not being able to work out makes me feel sluggish.

Are you into any sports?

I used to play soccer and compete in track and field when I was in school. Nowadays, I just go for the occasional boxing training and long runs.

Can you describe your workout routine?

Light to medium load with high repetition since my goal is to stay lean and not to increase size.

How can you avoid accidents in the gym?

By maintaining focus and always paying attention to what I’m doing. When I lift weights, I never do it while listening to music with earphones.

What part of your physique do you like best?

I’m particularly proud of how my chest has developed, so I always answer “chest” when asked this question. But just recently, my coach took a video of me from behind doing back workout and I just realized my back is actually pretty awesome looking, too.

What part of your body do you think needs improvement?

I need to improve on the strength of my shoulders and I need to start working harder on my lower abs.

What are the best lessons you’ve learned from your coach?

Coach Culver taught me a lot about discipline and integrity. In the confines of the gym, he is there to teach me, guide me, motivate me and train me. But after I step out into the real world, the rest is up to me. I see to it that I stick to my diet plan and live an over all healthy and wholesome lifestyle. So even during the hours and days that he is not there to coach me, I still live by all the principles I’ve learned from him.

What’s the best way to motivate someone to get fit?

One of the most important gifts we can give our loved ones is our presence in their lives. Being fit will surely guarantee longer healthier lives and better quality of living for everyone.
