MANILA, Philippines — Karla Estrada and Dimples Romana are two of the most sought-after celebrity moms in the entertainment industry today.
Karla, who got her second wind in showbiz thanks to son Daniel Padilla, is most loved for her vivacious and lively personality. There’s never a dull time with this curvy mommy whether she is in live guestings or co-hosting the ABS-CBN morning, lifestyle show “Magandang Buhay.”
Dimples, meanwhile, is currently starring in ABS-CBN’s “Wanspanataym Presents Louie’s Biton.” She is best remembered for her dramatic performance on “The Greatest Love. ” The family-oriented teleserye ended this summer at the same station after a highly successful run.
While the two have different roles on TV, they are very much the same at home. Both hard-working moms give nothing but the best to their families.
One way of showing this is through food, so they make it a point to cook despite their busy schedules. This coming Christmas, Karla and Dimples will prepare their signature Noche Buena dishes to make a deliciously delightful holiday.
And because Christmas is also the time for sharing, both have generously shared the secret ingredient to their best-selling recipes.
Karla’s all-out effort
One of the stars of Noche Buena, the Pork Menudo has become a Filipino classic despite its Latin American origins because of its thick and creamy tomato sauce base. A serving of this dish is filled with carrot, potato and pork cutlets.
For Karla, she is proud that her version is made “more special” every Christmas. “Ganito tayong mga nanay, kayang-kaya nating mag-all out sa Pasko lalong-lalo na sa pagluluto. Kaya I make sure na parating mas special ang luto kong Pork Menudo,” she says.
She achieves this with her secret, Knorr Pork Cubes. “Ihalo ito sa pork para lasap na lasap ang sarap ng meat ng menudo,” she advises.
The result, her Pork Menudo has become a favorite of her family most especially her kids.
A special touch by Dimples
They say the Filipino spaghetti is unique in the world because of its sweet taste complemented by the savory flavors of the ground pork and hotdog bits.
Dimples agrees and thinks the sweet and savory combination is what makes the dish loved by kids — and even kids at heart.
So come Christmas, she never misses out on cooking her Meaty Spaghetti with her “special touch.”
“Ganito tayong mga nanay kapag Pasko. Kailangan may special touch sa lahat ng mga ginagawa natin lalong-lalo na sa pagluluto,” Dimples says.
So what’s her special touch? “Ito ang matagal ko ng secret: Knorr Pork Cubes! Idagdag pagkatapos ng ground pork. Lasap na lasap ang sarap ng meat ng spaghetti. ChristMAS meaty, try it!”
