MANILA, Philippines – Milk is healthy for you in all the right ways, but as kids growing up, many of us didn’t know the importance of one essential nutrient, much less 20+!

For us, the great taste was enough reason to drink it, and that taste can still bring back happy memories. We can’t speak for those who didn’t enjoy the delicious and nutritious beverage, but for those of us who did, here are seven things kids who grew up drinking milk can relate to:

#7: It made every day exciting

A glass of milk was always the perfect companion to let us feel we could take on the world – with one chilled glass at breakfast (it goes with anything!), we knew we were starting the day off on the right foot.

#6: The mustaches were truly epic

Honestly, is there any other beverage that shows the world just how happy you are to be drinking it? Bonus points if you were the kind of kid who didn’t wipe it off right away!

#5: It gives an all-natural, refreshing boost

We didn’t know back then that Alaska contained energy-producing carbohydrates or the protein to develop and grow the muscles we needed to play. All we knew was that it tasted great and rehydrated us so we could keep on playing.

#4: It goes great with cereal…

We don’t remember exactly when we found this out, but when we did, we knew our minds were blown: the trick to keeping your cereal crunchier for longer is to pour the milk in the bowl before the cereal! And of course, we didn’t forget to drink the now-flavored milk when the cereal was gone.

#3: …and snacks!

As anyone who ever needed a pick-me-up in the middle of the day can attest, sandwich cookies and milk are comfort food at its finest. Split the layers (or don’t), dunk it in and enjoy!

#2: …and desert!

Even in its powdered form, we loved our milk, and if you don’t agree that it was usually the best part of a good ice scramble (iskrambol), you’re seriously missing half of your life.

#1: Milk is magic

Powder dissolving into liquid, announced by the clinking sound of a spoon on glass as your mother stirred you up a cool, fresh glass of Alaska – we didn’t need to know how it worked, all we knew was that our milk-filled childhood was awesome.
