Learning positive Filipino family values at Jollitown

STILL TALKING - Enrico Miguel T. Subido - The Philippine Star

When the precious Crystals of Values are stolen by the villainous Virus Elvira, only one team can retrieve them and restore the universe back to one of standards and principles. Jollibee, Yum, Popo, Hetty, and Twirlie come together once again for Jollitown Season 5, saving the day from the clutches of immorality and teaching Filipino children a host of valuable life lessons along the way.

“In the Jollitown TV program, we hope to impart positive Filipino family values. The past four seasons, and the current one, are centered around that: focusing on bravery, honesty, gentleness, friendship, teamwork, love for the family, love for the environment, having fun, and other positive things that we want kids to inculcate and actually practice at home and in their lives,” says Inna Jimenez, senior brand manager of Jollibee.

Officially launching Jollitown Season 5 recently at the Rockwell Tent, Jollibee and friends treated fans and their families to a fun day of games, songs, interactive activities, and a special screening of the newest season’s pilot episode.

The Jollitown Season 5 plot is “The Quest for Lost Values,” a travelling adventure that will take the Jollibee team and their viewers outside the imaginary Jollitown for the first time. The diabolical Virus Elvira has stolen the 10 Crystals of Values and intends to scatter them across the Philippines, where no one can find them. Jollibee and his friends will journey to the real world on a quest to recover the Crystals of Values, making the world a better place for children to live in. In order to accomplish their mission, the Jollitown gang must rely on their skills, clues, and the interesting characters they will meet along the way.

Jollitown Season 5 is filled with new adventures because for the first time, we will visit the Philippines. Jollibee and friends will make their way across the country: All over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, they will visit scenic destinations as they embark on new adventures. The main difference with Season 5 is that the children will encounter challenges and adventures in real world locations,” says Jimenez.

The direction that Jollitown Season 5 takes is an interesting one, since quite a few Filipino children experience travel first in a foreign country. With the new adventures that take the Jollitown team across the archipelago, Filipino kids will be able to see the truly great destinations of our country. Aside from learning valuable life lessons, they will be exposed to the rich culture we have across the islands and up the mountains. Each location highlights a certain value, keeping the lessons closer to home and making it easier for Filipino children to relate. “The bond between Jollibee and the family, knowing that the brand is very family-centric, is what makes the Jollitown program an effective tool for conveying positive values. Of course, the show also boasts a lot of fun, adventures, interesting stories, songs, and dances that all children will surely love. We are proud to be ‘visiting’ the Philippines in Jollitown Season 5. It’s closer to home, very familiar, and we are proud to showcase the various places, the culture, and the people,” says Jimenez.
