What’s on the Menu? Tempura and tendon at Tenya

MANILA, Philippines - Tenya offers tempura and tendon atop a steaming bowl of Japanese rice, or on a tray with soba or udon. The deep-fried ebi (shrimp) is coated in a puffed-up, crisp, golden-brown batter and lightly glazed in a sauce.  The tendon and tempura are served with Don Tare sauce, a condiment made with a special blend of secret sauces, giving a sweet and umami flavor. The Don Tare sauce has been specially made by a boutique soy sauce factory and is shipped to every Tenya store in the world.

All-Italian lunch and dinner buffet at Crimson Hotel

Crimson Hotel offers its “All Italian Lunch and Dinner Buffet” at Cafe Eight on Thursdays. The buffet features traditional Italian dishes including Caprese, sweet and tangy sliced fresh tomatoes with mozzarella cheese, basil and oregano drizzled with balsamic reduction and olive oil; carpaccio di manzo con rucola Parmigiano e olio d’ olive, beef carpaccio with rocket salad, Parmesan cheese and olive oil; funghi trifolati or truffled mushroom, thinly sliced mushroom pan-fried with garlic, parsley and white wine; cacciucco Livornese, a seafood stew made with slices of seafood, fresh tomatoes, white wine and virgin oil; cannelloni di manzo e funghi, handmade pasta with beef, mushrooms with tomato and béchamel sauce; pollo in potacchio made with broiled chicken with a sprig of fresh rosemary, tomato paste, garlic, onions, olive oil and white wine; ossobuco alla Milanese with braised veal shanks with bay leaves, celery, onions, white wine, garlic and spices; and torta della nonna, a pie made with soft, short-crust pastry and filled with thick Italian custard, among others. Priced at P1,226 for lunch and P1,533 for dinner.

Tea-infused mooncakes at TWG

TWG Tea offers its mid-Autumn festival flavors in a collection of eight tea-infused snowskin and traditional mooncakes, entirely handcrafted in Singapore by TWG Tea.  The TWG Tea Harvest mooncake is wrapped in a brown crust, with mixed almonds, hazelnuts, macadamia and pecans in a lotus paste infused with Brothers Club Tea, a warm and luminescent black tea with notes of nuts, citrus fruit and berries. The Fire mooncake is made with a baked crust, white lotus and rich pistachio paste infused with Paris- Singapore Tea and scattered with dried cranberries. TWG Tea 2015 also introduces its collection of four Snowskin mooncakes. The new Celebration mooncake crowned purple Snowskin is filled with chestnut mousse infused with Autumn Celebration Tea around a mango-marmalade, white-chocolate heart. The TWG Tea Snowskin mooncake collection also includes the most indulgent mooncake of all with its 24ct gold-plating, the deep red Dragon mooncake, filled with a Red Balloon Tea-infused Nashi pear mousseline and crunchy crumble encasing a refreshing blueberry-marmalade, white-chocolate heart.

A set of four traditional mooncakes is priced at P2,088, while the Snowskin mooncakes are P2,188, both available in Autumn Celebration mooncake gift boxes. Individual mooncake gift boxes are priced at P468 and P568 for traditional and Snowskin mooncakes, respectively.

Dim sum-all-you-can at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila

Marco Polo Ortigas offers its dim sum lunch from Monday to Friday at Lung Hin restaurant for P888+.   The traditional Cantonese dim sum is prepared by chef Ka Ming Pun from Hong Kong. The lunch includes steamed pork siomai in truffle sauce and steamed barbecue pork bun, along with a wide array of steamed and fried dim sum.  Match the dim sum with a selection of soup, noodles or rice and congee. Desserts include Masachi black sesame dumpling and chilled osmanthus jelly.

Lung Hin is located on the 44th floor of Marco Polo Ortigas, open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m.  to  2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
