Megaworld Lifestyle Malls kicks off Beer Festival

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, in cooperation with Publiko Gastro Pub, launched its first-ever beer festival last Sept. 26.

A ceremonial tapping of the beer keg held at the festival’s media launch signaled the start of the month-long festivity, a unique grand celebration of all things beer that is typical of the German Oktoberfest.

“Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Beer Festival is a different kind of beer celebration altogether. Since this is our first time to do a festival of this kind, we made sure that this will be big and loud. Big in terms of the number and varieties of beers to be offered, and loud in terms of the kind of entertainment we are giving to our guests,” declared Kevin Tan, Megaworld first vice president and commercial division head.

Hundreds of beer connoisseurs, enthusiasts and partygoers tasted over 150 craft and imported beers from local brewers and from different parts of the world at the festival’s kickoff last Sept. 27,  the first in a series of beer-centered events running on select dates until Oct. 26 at the Eastwood Central Plaza and at the Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill.

Popular bands Urbandub, Pupil and Up Dharma Down and Rico Blanco kicked off the Eastwood City leg as they rocked the night out from 6 p.m. up until the wee hours of the morning.

Following the Eastwood City Beer Festival Kickoff are various beer-centered events that are sure to leave everyone wanting more beers and more entertainment.

For the whole month of October, Thursdays officially become Thirstdays in Eastwood City where workaholics and partyphiles have the chance to enjoy various promos from beer merchants, along with live performances from rock bands and artists such as Never the Strangers, Sheila & The Insects, Taken by Cars, She’s Only 16, The Bloomfields, Tricia Garcia and Ebe Dancel.

On Oct. 18 and 19, the Eastwood Central Plaza will be transformed into a huge beer tent where guests can indulge in their favorite beers, while watching stand-up comedians from Comedy Cartel, or head-banging with the electrifying performances from rock groups Kenyo and The Dawn.

Eastwood City Beer Festival culminates on Oct. 25. Groove to the beat of live party music from Deuce Manila and DJs Funky Avy, Ace Ramos and Ron Poe, along with celebrity host MC Pao.

Mallgoers in Eastwood City can also explore a slew of beer-themed attractions — the giant wall art made out of beer caps, giant beer barrel and the beer exhibit that features different beers being served by merchants during the festival’s run.

The beer fest will also be held at the Venice Piazza tomorrow and Oct. 26. The two-legged event will likewise feature different imported beers and live performances from Up Dharma Down, Ringmaster, Pulso and Comedy Cartel.
