Alex Eala meets Anna Wintour, Sadie Sink at New York Fashion Week

MANILA, Philippines — Filipina tennis star Alex Eala had a star-studded encounter off the court as she crossed paths with fashion icon Anna Wintour and Hollywood actresses Sadie Sink and Amanda Seyfried during New York Fashion Week.
Eala attended the Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2027 show in New York, where she was seated in the front row alongside Wintour and was in the same room with Amanda Seyfriend and musician Lauryn Hill. She also attended the Calvin Klein show with actresses Pamela Anderson, Sadie Sink, Tate McRae and Gemma Chan.
The appearance marked Eala’s debut at New York Fashion Week, adding another milestone to what has been a remarkable year for the 20-year-old athlete.
Eala has previously caught Wintour’s attention for her growing interest in fashion.
During an interview in August, Wintour cited Eala while discussing how tennis players have increasingly used fashion to express their personalities.
Wintour mentioned tennis icons Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka before turning her attention to Eala, whom she described as a young Filipino star who is already showing an interest in fashion.
“You could see even in such a young star how interested she is in fashion and how she wants to learn about it and follow it,” Wintour said.
Eala admitted to Culture maganzine that she was both excited and nervous attending her first fashion week.
“I’m so excited. I’m a little nervous. There’s some amazing people in this room. I’m so happy to be a part of it,” she said.
She also noted the similarities between sports and fashion, particularly when it comes to self-expression.
“Sports and fashion are common in a way where you get to express yourself and you get to show your personality,” she said.
The tennis star attended the Tory Burch presentation in a red blazer paired with a blue-gray striped shirt and wide brown trousers.
Her New York Fashion Week appearance came after her recent campaign at the US Open, where she advanced to the third round.
