MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actress Maymay Entrata opened up about her views on self-love recently.

The "Amakabogera" singer talked to the press lately in a virtual conference about self-love, as she was introduced as the new endorser of cosmetics brand Megan Beauty.

She admitted that her journey toward self-love and process to finally feel confident had been “long and difficult."

Maymay shared, “I had not planned on being emotional. I just want to say that you should never base your definition of beauty according to how other people define it. There’s a lot of noise outside that will really affect how you see yourself. Never fall for that. If you rely on the approval of other people, you will never be happy. You will never feel satisfied."

She added, “At the end of the day, it’s still wonderful to hear that people appreciate you because of the beauty you have, that they know you feel confident because you’ve learned to accept what you have and don’t have,” she pointed out. “It’s so much better to be appreciated because you’re you. The bottom line here is to just be yourself.”

She was also asked if she has ever committed a beauty-related mistake. She said, “It’s more about my insecurities in relation to my physical characteristics. This had a huge effect on my confidence. My advice to young girls: Accept your limitations and be aware of your capabilities."

“Don’t forget that in accepting these flaws, you can make things perfect. What I mean is that when you will no longer feel affected by what other people are saying about you, your true beauty will come out. You will also be more understanding of the people who criticize you. You’ll just say, ‘They’re just sad about their lives, that’s why they come after you,” the actress stressed.

“Never allow your insecurities to eat you up. Someday, we will all celebrate our beauty by forgiving ourselves and those who have hurt us. But for now, we should first accept that we have limitations and that we shouldn’t be ashamed that we have them. They are part of what will complete us as a person,” she declared.

Apart from her supporters, Maymay accounts for the trust of her endorsements, such as local personal care and beauty brand Megan Beauty, as her confidence booster amid being part of a very volatile and demanding industry.

Maymay was named as the first celebrity endorser of the cosmetics brand in 2018 for the products Peel-Off Masks, Face Sheet, Nose Pore Strips, Facial and Body Wax Kits, Eye Gel Patch, and Clay Masks.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has been supporting our products. Choosing Maymay as the endorser of some of the Megan Beauty products felt very natural for us. Simply because she has always been open and proud of who she is as a Filipina. Similar to our brand, we also want the Filipinas to embrace who they really are and be cared for by a brand that is specially made for their skin,” said Megan Beauty President Lawrence Lance Lee.
