Nail polish can change your look in an instant

I’ve never worn nail polish. What should I look for when buying a bottle of polish?

Next to makeup, nail polish is my beauty must. I don’t feel tidy and well-groomed when my nails aren’t polished. It’s also a discipline I imbibed from years of modeling because a professional model’s hands are always expected to be ready for a photo shoot. 

Some people go for massages or facials, but for me, getting a manicure is the one thing I commit to every month. I’ve been using nail polish for 15 years and all women can relate to the frustration of being incapacitated while waiting for her polish to dry. You can’t even open your wallet to pay for your pamper sesh. Or worse, you can’t even use the toilet when you need to. 

Look for a polish brand that is quick drying. Time is so precious in our busy sched these days. A fast-drying polish affords you time which is so valuable. 

Women also often make the mistake of using their nails as tools. So to make nails stay pretty but shiny and durable, go for a gel-like formula of nail polish that doesn’t require a UV lamp and tedious polish removal but stays shiny and strong. There are many innovative polish brands today that offer this already. 

Lastly, like skin, we should be careful of our nails, too. Try to get one that is vegan and 10-free, meaning it’s free from the top 10 toxic ingredients like toulene, DPB, parabens, camphor, formaldehyde resin, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, acetone, lead, and animal ingredients.
Lastly, I hope you start enjoying wearing polish just the same way you probably enjoy wearing makeup. To me, nail polish is like lipstick — a swipe of color can allow you to be on trend and instantly change your look. Have fun!
