Gigi Hadid’s favorite foundation is here

Matte and poreless: “It’s better for when pictures are taken,” supermodel Gigi Hadid says about Fit Me! liquid foundation, available at Maybelline counters nationwide.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid swears by Maybelline’s Fit Me! foundation — she cited it as her favorite among the brand’s vast makeup range.

“It’s just really good,” Hadid has said. “At night I’ll use the matte (Fit Me! foundation), because it’s better for when pictures are being taken.”

Hadid’s fave also happens to be the most sought-after foundation in the Philippines, according to Cary Co, marketing director for Maybelline Philippines. “Everyone is requesting FitMe! Matte; it’s the most requested foundation in the Philippine market,” she says.

Adds Bianca Sing, junior product manager for Maybelline, “From forums to Facebook comment sections to Twitter, everyone has been asking for it. Fit Me! is a certified US bestseller finally arriving in the Philippines.”

What makes this foundation such a Holy Grail?

Well, firstly, most Filipinas struggle with oily skin. Fit Me! has mattifying properties that kept my T-zone greaseless and shine-free the whole day.

Second, a lot of us feel that our pores are large enough to take over the world. We’d do anything to cover them, and get that poreless look only models and beauty queens seem to achieve. Fit Me’s blurring technology is such that it provides a smooth, porcelain finish worthy of both Gigi and Bella Hadid.

Another cool thing is that the shade range is wide enough to include all Pinay skin tones, from chinita ivory to golden morena. Sing points out that most of the time, “Filipinas are offered only about four foundation shades to choose from, which makes it a real challenge to find their perfect shade. As Fit Me! comes in 10 shades, Filipinas can more easily find their fit.”

Makeup artist Hanna Pechon immediately pegged me at No. 230, or Natural Buff, and from there it was a piece of cake to choose my matching concealer and powder.

But the best part? All the foundations in the Fit Me! range cost a mere P399, with the concealer a steal at P199. What’s not to love?

“It’s our mission to bring the most innovative products to Filipinas, and also to bring the trends from catwalk to sidewalk,” Co says.

Maybelline also launched its #MakeItHappen campaign with 10 Filipina “makers” — young, successful creatives who have turned their dreams and ambitions into reality: photographer Sara Black with her “Make Imagination Happen” story; Asia’s Next Top Model contender Maureen Wroblewitz with her “Make Bold Happen” story; fashion designer Rosenthal Tee with her “Make Fashion Happen” story; celebrity stylist Kimi Yap with her “Make Confidence Happen” story; calligrapher Alexis Ventura with her “Make Creativity Happen” story; athlete Denisse Lazaro with her “Make Strength Happen” story; education advocate Arizza Nocum with her “Make Change Happen” story; blogger Lissa Kahayon with her “Make Ambitious Happen” story; fitness guru Ida Paras with her “Make Determination Happen” story; and filmmaker Janina Manipol with her “Make Dedication Happen” story.

Wroblewitz, who at 18 was the youngest contestant on AsNTM Cycle 5, joined the modeling competition to get out of her shell and is now one of the Top 5 finalists. “I can inspire other girls by showing them that dreams can come true: just be determined and work hard for it,” she said.

“Maybelline has always believed in the power of beauty to make things happen,” said Co. “We want our message on empowerment and possibilities to be a part of every young Filipina’s narrative.”
