70 years of central banking in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Last July 26, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno highlighted recent reforms pursued by the BSP to strengthen the financial system during the reception for the banking community hosted by BSP at its head office in Manila. 

“The BSP is committed to strengthen risk governance, leverage on technology, achieve greater and broader access to financial services, uphold the integrity of the financial system and safeguard the interest of the public, and accelerate capital markets reforms,” the Governor said. He also thanked the banking community for supporting the BSP and for helping maintain a banking system that is sound and responsive to the needs of the economy and the Filipino people.

The birthday luncheon with former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was held at Summer Palace Edsa Shangri-La on the same day.
