MANILA, Philippines — The iconic Philippines YEARBOOK was founded in 1936 by Dr. and Mrs. Jimmy Go Puan Seng, parents of Grace Glory Go and grandparents of present-day president and publisher Vernon Go.

Gerald Chan, Joey Concepcion, Samuel Uy, Grace Glory Go, Vernon Go, Happee Go, Benny Aw and Cynthia Go.

It is the only publication of its kind in the country that has gone through a world war, martial law and the Edsa revolution. It was an offshoot of The Fookien Times daily, which previous to its shut down by martial law, after over 45 years, was the country's largest Chinese language newspaper circulated nationwide.

Mark Choon, Chito Sobrepeña, Nestor Jardin, Anna Sobrepeña, Panama Ambassador Rolando Guevara Alvarado, Nedy Tantoco and Patrick Jacinto.

However, the Marcos administration allowed the YEARBOOK to continue its yearly edition as this was and is the only YEARBOOK regarding the Philippines, subscribed to within our shores and globally in libraries of major cities of the world, aside from foreign corporations.

Dr. Cecile Infantado, Vanessa Pastor-Ledesma, Alfredo Roca and guest editor-in-chief Paulo Alcazaren.

By the late 1990s, Vernon Go took over the editorship of the YEARBOOK and reinvented it to what it is today. The 2019 edition is dubbed “Project Somewhere in Time” with Paulo Alcazaren as its editor-in-chief.

RJ Ledesma, Lorenzo Jooris, Gambia Consul Agnes Huibonhoa, Armand Arton and Monaco Consul General Fortune Ledesma.

Archival photos of key locations throughout the Philippines are juxtaposed against the exact contemporary perspectives, creating the illusion of traveling in time.

Tanzania Consul Betty Ang, Guatemala Consul Mellie Ablaza, Russel Brown, Czech Republic Deputy Chief of Mission Jana Peterkova, Czech Republic Ambassador Jana Sediva and Belarus Consul Annette Ablan.

We look back at our history and our lives on one hand, and on the other hand, we stand firmly with time. This is the massive diorama the 2019 edition laid down before you on its 83rd year of existence.

Romina Gervacio, Rupert Jacinto, Charisse Chuidian, Tina Jacinto and Angola Consul Helen Ong.
