The ’70s revisited

MANILA, Philippines — Although My Brother’s Mustache (nicknamed by its patrons as My Bro) especially caters to folk music fans, it extends its welcome and charm to anyone wanting delicious, honest-to-goodness food and drinks. Established in 2001, the folk bar is located at the ground floor of Hive Hotel along Sct. Tuazon in Quezon City.

They offer local beers served below zero, as well as cocktails, wines and hard liquors, which are best paired with the classic Filipino staple pulutan like sisig, crispy patapinaputok na tilapia and more.

There's also some folk music to wash it all down. My Bro calls itself “the home of local folk musicians,” and it stays true to its word. The artists range from the unknown and the up-and-coming to the highly influential. House music is a steady playlist of songs by the likes of America, Bob Dylan, and Simon and Garfunkel. It creates a nice ambience and, along with the ’70s style decor, makes you feel like you truly are back in the bygone era.

Although the theme of the bar is very specific, it doesn’t come off as exclusive. You don’t have to be a folk music junkie or someone who’s nostalgic for the ’70s to appreciate it. All you need is a love of food and a love of good drinks to enjoy it. As My Bro understands so clearly, that’s all we really need to have a good time.

My Brother’s Mustache is located at 68 Scout Tuazon, Quezon City, at the ground floor of Hive Hotel.
