Hands on Manila forums tackle corporate volunteerism, 'bayanihan' in the present

MANILA, Philippines — Volunteer organization Hands On Manila hosted sessions discussing corporate volunteerism and the concept of practicing bayanihan in the present day last February 18 in Makati's The Balmori Suites.
The event was part of international nonprofit organization Points of Light's global network gathering for partner executives and companies. Hands On Manila is an affiliate of Points of Light.
Kicking off proceedings was a lively talk by celebrated historian and author Ambeth Ocampo, who discussed the history of bayanihan in the Philippines and "living heroes."
The main portion of the half-day conference saw London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), led by co-site leads Deepak Verma and Sheryl Tan-Bautista, share the company's recent volunteer efforts in the country.
LSEG representatives as well as from Community Action Team – Philippines then joined a panel moderated by EON chairman Junie Del Mundo on how corporate volunteerism affects employee engagement.
The second-half of the event saw Blanca Doria of Zendesk, Ten Bartolome of Inchcape Digital Philippines, and Ayala Foundation president Tony Lambino discuss how outsourcing corporate social responsibility is better at providing impact rather than companies volunteering on their own.
Hands On Manila's own Vanessa Colombo moderated the latter session, which was followed by closing remarks from the organization's co-founder Gianna Montinola and Points of Light president Jennifer Sirangelo.
