Gallery News: ‘Building Beyond Tragedy’ at Asian Center, UP Diliman

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Japan Foundation, Manila presents the traveling exhibition “How Did Architects Respond Immediately After 3/11?” which is slated from June 9 to 14 at the Japan and China Halls of the GT-Toyata Hall of Wisdom, the Asian Center, UP Diliman, QC.

The show features the myriad projects, constructs and visions of the participating architects presented in visual and text panels, as well as models and video presentations. Samples of furniture and actual cardboard shelters used in response to the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake are also included.

It also brings together designers, builders, engineers, and other practitioners in the architectural disclipine — from different parts of Japan — who have been involved in projects that are trying to answer how they can build beyond tragedy.
