'Seven Arts, One Imelda' at CCP

-

MANILA, Philippines - A gala tribute to the founding chairperson of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, will be held at the CCP’s Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater) on Sept. 11, at 8 p.m.

Dubbed as “Seven Arts, One Imelda,” the invitational gala event extols the seven arts through signature pieces created during the period of Imelda’s patronage. Simple and classic, the gala will highlight the virtuosity of the Filipino artists.

Featured artists include international pianist Cecile Licad, prima ballerina Lisa Macuja, flutist Antonio Maigue, tenor Jonathan Velasco, violinists Coke Bolipata and Joseph Esmilla; sopranos Rachelle Gerodias, Camille Lopez, Aileen Espinosa Cura, and Clarissa Ocampo; ballet dancers Candice and Carissa Adea, and well acclaimed concert pianist Dean Raul Sunico.

It will also feature CCP resident companies- Ballet Philippines, Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Philippine Madrigal Singers, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, together with the MADz et al choirs and 100-voice children’s choirs.

The gala tribute is directed by noted theater thespian Alexander Cortez, with concept-script by TV-stage director Floy Quintos, choreography by Edna Vida-Froilan and musical direction by Josefino Chino Toledo and Ryan Cayabyab.
