MANILA, Philippines — The cast of the Philippine run "Six the Musical" was blown away by the warm reception they got from their Philippine audience, calling it true validation for performers and lovers of the arts.

The award-winning production is a modern-pop inspired musical reimagining of the story of Britain's King Henry VIII's six wives — Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr — who are now given the platform to reclaim their own narratives.

Conceived by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the show portrays the wives as fierce and influential pop stars in their own right, taking inspiration from contemporary pop artists like Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Britney Spears, and more.

Making up the Philippine cast are Billie Kerr as Catherine of Aragon, Filipino-American Yna Tresvalles as Anne Boleyn, Liberty Stottor as Jane Seymour, Hannah Victoria as Anna of Cleves, Lizzie Emery as Katherine Howard, and Eloise Lord as Catherine Parr.

During the "Six" media call last October 9,  Tresvalles shared she has not been back to the Philippines since before the pandemic. The Filipino-American stage actress sees her current stay in the country a heartwarming homecoming, where she is able to spend time with her nieces and nephews. She is also looking forward to her lola watching her perform.

The show opened last October 5 and, by the time of the media call, had already done five Philippine shows, enough time for them to witness how emphatic Filipinos can be.

Kerr said Filipino audiences do not hold back, which means so much to performers like her to "feel all the love in the room."

Victoria added that sort of love is needed in their kind of show, and their Philippine opening night was a core memory for the entire cast.

As the Filipino representative in the cast, Tresvalles echoed the cast's gratitude in her message for fans.

"It's been amazing seeing the reception as warm as the weather. Never change, that sense of humor, volume, and support is so appreciated. They have no idea what it means for us who are so far away," she said. "They're lifting us to a higher plane."

"Six" runs for a limited season at the Theater at Solaire until October 20.
