MANILA, Philippines — On Saturday, October 9, 2021, 22 groups from 15 companies and 7 private groups with over 285 volunteers will participate virtually in SERVATHON’s culminating event and interactive talk by Chef Margarita Forés on the Zero Waste Kitchen organized by Hands on Manila Foundation, (HOM) Inc.

With the theme “Harvest for Health,”this year’s SERVATHON continues last year’s promise –the establishment of sustainable vegetable gardens in public schools to provide food security, nutritious food and to help alleviate hunger in communities. Corporate volunteers will have two volunteer work options from the safety of their homes:  to design self-watering planters from recycled soda bottles or to create liquid fertilizer from food scraps and waste. Both of these items will be distributed to the partner public school gardens of Tipas National High School, Capt. Hipolito Francisco Elementary School - Annex, Sto. Rosario Elementary School, Manuel Roxas Elementary School, and Pabahay Project. These beneficiaries will take over the maintenance and care of the gardens, sharing the produce with communities around them and propagating and distributing seedlings to encourage urban gardens in homes.

Now on its 20th year, Hands On Manila is the leading non-profit organization working to promote volunteerism in the Philippines. It is the first international affiliate of Hands on Network USA (now known as the Points of Light Foundation), the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service.

The companies participating forSERVATHON 2021 are American Express, EON, Far Eastern University, ICTSI Foundation, One Meralco Foundation, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Rockwell Land, Romulo Law, True Value, Wells Fargo & Co., and Wells Fargo Philippines. Together with seven private groups, including F31, Assumption College Alumni Batch ‘81, and HOM’s board of directors, past and present.

Updates on the projects can be seen on Hands On Manila’s Facebook page and Instagram @handsonmanila.

We invite you all to be “Hands On!” with us especially during these challenging times!
