The Philippine embassy in Brazil launched recently “Dive Philippines” to capitalize on the country’s amazing underwater dive sites full of healthy coral reefs.

The tourism promotional exhibit was held at Pátio Brasil, a premier shopping mall in Brasilia.

“Dive Philippines” aims to raise awareness of the Philippines as a diving haven to Brazilians and other South Americans.

“Why come to the Philippines to dive?” Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro asked the press and tour operators present at the recent briefing. “Because we have amazing underwater dive sites full of healthy coral reefs, rare marine life, seascapes, sunken wrecks and much more.”

“The Philippines is a wonderful combination of ocean diversity. Our many islands and large landmasses provide an amazing array of habitats under the sea that attract some of the most unusual and sought-after creatures in the world,” she added.

After the Philippines was recognized for the first time as Asia’s Leading Dive destination by the World Travel Awards, “Dive Philippines” is the embassy’s contribution to the initiative of the Department of Tourism (DOT) in promoting dive tourism which has been identified as a key area in the National Tourism Development Plan.

“We may be on the other side of the planet, but the Philippines offers so much to divers and non-divers alike,” Mauro said. “We have first class facilities and amenities available in a wide choice of special destinations coupled with the exceptional quality of service and extraordinary hospitality of the Filipino people which make for a sublime experience for every visitor.”

Located at the ground floor entrance of Pátio Brasil, the visitors to Dive Philippines had the unique opportunity to experience what it’s like to dive in the Philippines via virtual reality using Oculus goggles. There was also a special photo exhibit that showcased the amazing array of the most unusual and sought-after creatures in the world that inhabit Philippine waters.
