MANILA, Philippines — Search engine Google is joining the Philippines in marking the 2019 midterm elections with a special doodle.

Google replaced its usual logo with a doodle featuring a ballot box with the Philippine flag on it.

The reach of this doodle is limited in the Philippines.

More than 61 million Filipinos will cast their votes in Monday’s elections seen to strengthen President Rodrigo Duterte’s grip on power.

Over 18,000 seats, ranging from local councils to the Senate, are at stake. — Gaea Katreena Cabico
