Actiu regional manager for Asia Pacific and New Zealand Michael Blanco, Boogi Furniture founders Burkhardt “Boogi” Zip perich and Nenette Pangilinan: “Workspaces need to spark motivation and joy.”

MANILA, Philippines — There are offices and then there are offices. Google and other tech companies have revolutionized not only the way we live, but also the way we work — people working on their laptops standing up, bean bags scattered around, ergonomic chairs that lessen the back pain from sitting at your desk all day, and meeting rooms that are fun and less formal.

If you have such an office, chances are, you have Actiu furniture, the Spanish brand with a philosophy to make the workplace cool. Actiu regional manager for Asia Pacific and New Zealand Michael Blanco was in Manila last month to introduce the new collection that’s distributed in the Philippines by Boogi Furniture, the company founded by the couple Burkhardt “Boogi” Zipperich and Nenette Pangilinan.

Boogi says, “Workspaces need to spark motivation and joy.  The challenge is to create spaces where employees are actually happy to go to work, they feel valued and are equipped for performance.  One needs to orchestrate atmosphere, employ thoughtful and purposeful choices of elements like light, color, texture, acoustics, and select furnishings that are human-friendly, tech-optimized in design to deliver the optimum user experience. As work skills change so does the office environment. Today, the workspace that is required has to be functional and purposeful, but at the same time, dynamic and attractive.  People feel a sense of pride when their workspaces both look good and support their performance goals.”

Actiu is one of Boogi’s flagship brands for office furniture and workstations. Every piece is manufactured in Alicante, Spain, and adheres to the “three eights theory” in designing spaces and furniture. “This theory is a principle that advocates organizing a day by dedicating eight hours to rest, eight hours to work, and eight hours to leisure, to maintain a psychological and emotional balance that makes us feel better and live every moment with passion,” says Michael Blanco.

This promotes the need for well-being, to convert a workspace into an extension of the home, to make it comfortable, attractive, and motivating. Efficiency and productivity go hand in hand with the satisfaction of a job well done.

“At Actiu, this is referred to as Cool Working, and one of its anchors is the furniture used to bring forth this kind of environment. Over the years, Actiu has evolved to create workspaces that are reflective of what the market today needs. The Cool Working campaign is something that we started in our headquarters in Spain and our offices across the world – we want our employees to feel comfortable, motivated, and inspired so they can successfully combine their work and personal lives,” says Blanco.

“Cool Working” is a comprehensive rethinking of traditional working methods by incorporating well-designed, non-traditional furniture pieces that provide new workspace dimensions. A process of analysis, advice and support, Cool Working by Actiu identifies client needs to offer them the best solution while taking into account the space, the style of work that takes place within it, aesthetics and the functionality of the product that is going to be implemented. The ultimate goal is to make employees happier and more productive.
