MANILA, Philippines — The arrival of the star-studded guests at the 2018 Philippines YEARBOOK launch, which started with Sen. Cynthia Villar and former Presidents Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Fidel V. Ramos, was completed with the arrival of PLDT Group chairman Manny V. Pangilinan with top honchos of PLDT-Smart at the “C” Lounge of Conrad.

MVP was hosting an event on the same evening on Jan. 18, 2018 at the grand ballroom of Conrad, so by the time he dropped by the “C” Lounge, the YEARBOOK launch celebration was just about over. By then, Grace Glory Go had gone up to her Club floor suite and removed her beautiful cocktail dress, a gift from Mrs. Menchu Concepcion, and changed into her working clothes. Nonetheless, she was very happy to hear that MVP and his crew were at the “C” Lounge and hurried down to greet him.

For the past four years, Mrs. Menchu Concepcion has always had her couturier design a cocktail dress for the YEARBOOK launch celebration, which makes GGG feel she’s truly blessed to have good friends like Menchu, her son Ton Concepcion and daughter-in-law Karen.

The YEARBOOK is a family legacy on its 82nd year, founded by Dr. Jimmy Go Puan Seng and his wife Felisa Velasco Go in 1936, as an offshoot of The Fookien Times daily, the country's largest circulated and most respected Chinese language newspaper in the Philippines.

The YEARBOOK survived the world war in the late 30s-to-early-40s, was allowed to continue through the martial law years, being the only publication of its kind, and onwards past the EDSA revolution. Dr. Jimmy Go's youngest daughter Grace Glory Go, chairman and CEO; and grandson Vernon Go, president and publisher, together with guest editor-in-chief, Paulo Alcazaren, a columnist of The Philippine STAR, carry on this public service task of informing our people and the world what keep?s our nation changing and growing.
