Start the year right with a health & wellness seminar

FROM THE HEART - Gina Lopez - The Philippine Star

It’s the beginning of the year so a piece on health and wellness is in order. I just turned 64, I had cancer and didn’t even feel it; I feel happier and healthier than when I was 18. I just look older but I must be doing something right because if it works, it works.

On Jan. 20 there will be a Health and Wellness morning at Rockwell One. I have invited friends and speakers — the whole purpose is a sharing of quality of life. Because that’s what life — what love — is all about: sharing.

During the event, I am going to feed you! I will let you taste healthy cooking. Diet is key to health. You simply cannot eat whatever you want and stay healthy. Food becomes a part of you. Eating well is the absolute pillar of health.

I will talk about oxygen food, which I learned from Jethro, the founder of Van Gogh is Bi Polar in QC. He cured his partner of Stage 4 cancer in 10 days just through the diet.  His cook trained my staff, so I will give you a taste of it. Unfortunately he will not be able to come, but, at the very least, I will share my knowledge of his tutelage.

I will talk on herbs that I use regularly, including oil pulling, and virgin coconut oil (VCO). We are supremely blessed in this country and we don’t even know it. We have access to medicinal plants and they are not expensive! We have a wealth of healing resources and they’re so inexpensive they’re almost free.

I have recently gotten into Bulletproof, which is a system aimed at upgrading the brain. The proponents of that in Manila will give you a taste of their Bulletproof coffee. I use the oils and I like the effect it’s been having.

Eli Abella, who is the chief proponent of bio hacking, will introduce her gadgets and give a free experience to those who are interested. I like the principle behind it because it is non-invasive and non-chemical —the gadgets just have to be used with caution.

Health is not just physical; it is the result of the integration of psychological, emotional and even spiritual aspects.  So I will introduce what has worked for me. I really like Inner Space Technology, a system of releasing charges in the subconscious that affect the way we see and react to the world. We experience the world in the way we “see” it. More often than not, trauma in the past many times carries with it “charges” of fear, anger, and pain — it is important to let this go.

Frank Quilas, who is the head of the Clairvision School of Meditation in the Philippines — which I have been practicing for almost 15 years — will be there.

The health field is an ever-evolving field. And in this, the openness to explore and discover is important. Despite the pollution and stress, people are living longer and healthier lives.

I just saw the picture of Robbie Delgado’s mother, and was in awe to find out she is turning 99 this year! And she is still sharp and able!

My aunt Tetchie Velasquez is 93 and she dances and meditates, and is a bundle of positive energy. Then I look at my mom, who is 87, and my future feels quite secure.

I close this piece by talking about the importance of choice. Life is all about choices. We need to facilitate a world around us where we can breathe healthy, clean air, eat healthy food, drink healthy, clean water, and there are ways to do this despite the challenges: essential oils to balance the dirty air, adding more plants, which give oxygen. Company is key. You need to surround yourself with wise, joyful, positive people who can support you, who sincerely care for you and thus will be part of your grace in life.

The key is vision and the other key is guts; just have the guts to make the right choices, then life can flow.

Sending you all love and light.
