Let It Go (and other ways to find happiness)

FROM THE HEART - Gina Lopez - The Philippine Star

I am at the Tennesee Airport and my pickup is  late so I have decided to buckle down and reflect.

The reality is, I feel happier, healthier, and younger than when I was in my teens mainly because I am learning not to be bothered by things. It’s worry that makes one old and tired. I am still not there, but I am improving. We are fellow travellers —here’s hoping my learnings help you along the way.

1. You can’t please everyone — so don’t even try. Just do what is right — and the inner satisfaction that one has done the right thing is, more often than not, enough to weather you through.

2. Things aren’t going to be perfect. It’s the way life is — full of “seeming” imperfections. I even think it is designed to be that way because these imperfections act like challenges — hills for us to hurdle on the way to strength and equanimity. They can even act as mirrors, guiding us to what we have to fix in ourselves. If one is so disturbed by something, then the question is why?  If the goal is equanimity, which is a good goal, then look at the things that rock the boat, disturb the calm of the sea of our consciousness.  One has to see this with courage, humility and sometimes, oftentimes, with some help — a confidante or a co-traveller in life who will help you see things in perspective.

3. Whatever it is, is. Go forward. Let it go. Just let it go! It’s over and done with. If we cling on to the anger, the worry, the reaction, it’s going to drag you down — make you unhappy and stop you from going for the light at the end of the tunnel. It will give a dark, heavy hue to the world you are perceiving and influence the way you react to the people around you. Let it go and feel the refreshing peace of forgiveness, of seeing the goodness in others, of not putting people in boxes.

4. Go for the light. With hope in your heart and an indefatigable optimism, know that God, the Divine, and your angels are so totally with you — and aim for gold! If you feel small, you will dream small, you will do small! Go for gold! Go for your highest dreams. Don’t sell yourself short.

Here are the processes I have found to be vital:

• Health. You need to eat healthy. Don’t load yourself with junk food chemicals. It’s just not worth it. It accumulates — and when you feel ill, you will know that the temporary enjoyment of whatever just isn’t worth it when you get sick! Sleep well. Sigh ... I am admittedly not the best example here because I still have to be able to sleep at the time I should be sleeping. I get sucked to the allurements of the Internet. However, my experience is when I sleep well, peaceful, and enough, the whole next day feels so much better!

• Regular practice of inner growth. I meditate daily without fail. In fact, my morning regimen is doing asanas to calm me, qi gong just fills me with positive energy. I highly recommend Sheng Zhen Qi Gong. Just go to their website.  Whenever I do it, I feel the flow of love. It lifts my spirit and doesn’t take much time at all. Their email is shengzhensociety@gmail.com and mobile phone number is 09182028913.

• Constant commune — checking in with the Divine. I have a diary. It’s amazing the thoughts that come in when one buckles down and retrospects the day. Try it — you may be pleasantly surprised. Even once a week has its impact. The reason why I find this important is often, life brings us on this roller-coaster ride and we keep moving on without reflecting or knowing if we are going the right way. Is there anything else we should be doing? Retrospecting on the events of the day, the week, all have tidbits of jewel messages to give us. It goes unattended when we unconsciously go through life.  The key is to make time.

Life is what we make of it. We get as much as we put in. The blessings of life don’t come on a silver platter. The effort we put into going in the right direction builds “muscle”... and yes at the end of the day, it’s all about grace. That won’t come if we don’t work for it. The “muscle” becomes the vessel that can lead us to deep experiences of grace. Much love  to all :)

P.S. I had a lot of feedback with my curing the big C. I did so many things, I am not even sure what did it, but I have no doubts about the efficacy of the beam ray machine.  There seems to be difficulty communicating with the supplier through email. So my suggestion is to go to Dr. Brent Davis (docbdavis@comcast.net). He will get it for you and make the programs for you to use. I am with him now and he is making programs that can address my osteoporosis. Let’s see. If it works, it works.
