Hong Kong Disneyland: Ride closure unrelated to Filipino tourist’s death

MANILA, Philippines — Hong Kong Disneyland said the suspension of its “Frozen Ever After” attraction was pre-planned and not linked to the death of a Filipino tourist last week.

“Our initial investigation has shown the incident is not related to ride safety,” the theme park said in a statement.

Tourist’s death. The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a 53-year-old Filipino tourist lost consciousness while on the ride on Friday, August 29.

Theme park first aiders attended to him immediately, performing CPR before he was transported by ambulance to North Lantau Hospital.

He was pronounced dead at around 11:30 a.m.

The DFA has not released further details about the Filipino tourist.
