MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) is offering 150 percent tax deduction incentives for any donation under its Adopt-A-School Program, whether for teachers’ training or the construction of facilities.

“Through collaboration between the government and the private sector, we can further strengthen the quality of education and ensure a brighter future for our youth,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said in a Facebook post.

The government targets to build 15,000 classrooms under the public-private partnership (PPP) being pushed by Angara.

DepEd OIC-Undersecretary for operations Malcolm Garma has said that the government has its short-, medium- and long-term solutions to address the shortage in classrooms, currently pegged at 165,000 nationwide.

Angara mentioned the tax incentives after Lockheed Martin Aeronautics executive director William Blair and Iloilo-Negros Air Express Company (INAEC) Aviation Corp. president Jay Lopez visited the DepEd.

“It is truly heartwarming to know that a global player in the aeronautics industry is interested in collaborating to further strengthen the education sector,” Angara said.

Meanwhile, Angara added that the DepEd has already submitted its proposed 2026 budget to the Department of Budget and Management.

“We will ask for support from our lawmakers next,” he said.
