Go calls for safety amid Holy Week travel surge
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has urged the Filipino faithful to keep safe amid a surge in passenger volume traveling back to Manila by air, land and sea after the Holy Week.
“Traveling back after a time of reflection with family, it is important that we are careful on our journey. Let us watch our belongings, follow the rules and let us not rush,” Go said.
“Always prioritize health and safety. Remember that health is equivalent to the life of every Filipino,” he added.
Go cited transportation authorities who reported an increase in passenger volume at airports, seaports and bus terminals.
The senator called on the public to cooperate with transport authorities to maintain order and safety.
“We have agencies on standby to help, but we also have the duty to be disciplined,” Go said.
As chairman of the Senate health committee, Go urged the public to take care of themselves from heat stroke during their travels home.
“Because of the humid weather, let us drink plenty of water and rest when you feel tired. If you feel anything unusual, please don’t ignore it,” he said.
“Holy Week is a time for reflection and hope. Let us use this time to rest, be with our loved ones, and above all, pray and give thanks,” Go added.
