BusinessWorld economic forum explores newest ‘revolutions’

MANILA, Philippines — BusinessWorld, the country’s top source of business news and information, gathers industry leaders and experts to delve on “new normal” revolutions in its flagship event, the BusinessWorld Virtual Economic Forum, on May 25 and 26.

Themed “Revolutions 2022: Navigating the Changed World,” the forum has as keynote speaker Albert Park, chief economist at Asian Development Bank, who will share latest perspectives on the global economic outlook and agenda for 2022.

Leading presentations across disciplines are Kalpana Seethepalli, director of ESG for Asia Pacific at Deutsche Bank, on Sustainability; Jon Canto, acting managing partner at McKinsey & Company Philippines, on Industry; Todd Schweitzer, co-founder and CEO of open finance tech solutions provider Brankas, on Digitalization and the Internet; and Anthony Oundjian, managing director and senior partner of Boston Consulting Group, on Human Revolutions.

Roundtable discussions among distinguished executives in the Philippine business community are also slated.

On the first day of the forum, Mynt-Globe Fintech Innovations Inc. president and CEO Martha Sazon and Management Association of the Philippines president Alfredo Pascual will talk about “Rethinking the role of corporate leaders in an era of change” with BusinessWorld editor-in-chief Wilfredo Reyes. A representative of the Makati Business Club joins the discussion.

On Day 2, panelists Diosdado “Dado” Banatao, chairman of PhilDev Foundation; Shailesh Baidwan, president of Voyager Innovations; and Ron Estrella, country manager of Medgate Philippines, will delve into “Technology Adoption & Collaboration: Prospects in the Digital Economy,” to be moderated by BusinessWorld columnist Danie Laurel.

Other panel discussions will gather other CEOs and thought leaders to tackle topics relevant to the forum’s track presentations: “Accelerating the Journey to a Net-Zero Future,” “Shifts in Sectoral and Business Game Plan,” “Ensuring Safety and Security in the Virtual Spaces,” and “Re-engineering HR Strategies for Post-COVID Workplace Realities.”

The two-day forum will also feature Fireside chats with Angelo Tan, country lead for climate business at IFC Philippines, about “Making Green Infrastructure More Accessible;” Vicky Abad, country manager of Ipsos Philippines, on “Delivering a Seamless Phygital Customer Experience;” John Rubio, country director of Meta Philippines, on the metaverse’s impact on businesses and brands; and lawyer Arlene de Castro, chief people and customer officer of Sprout Solutions, on “The Great Resignation” among workforces.

Completing each day of the forum are Ask-the-Expert sessions.

Carlo Delantar, founding partner at venture capital firm Core Capital and head of circular economy at Gobi Partners, will discuss the topic “Pivoting to a Circular Economy” on the first day; while Gwendolyn Lim, partner in Singapore at Bain & Company, will talk about “Connecting and Catering to the Needs of the Changed Consumers” on the second and final day of the forum.
