USAID-supported youth stories podcast wins Gold Anvil

Pia Lee-Brago - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-supported campaign, “Bago ang Lahat: Stories from the Youth of Our Nation’s Leaders,” has won the Gold Anvil award.

The Youth Leadership for Democracy (YouthLed)’s Bago ang Lahat podcast series recently received a Gold Anvil in the Public Relations Tools (Audio) category during the 57th Anvil Awards presented by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.

The Anvil is presented annually to outstanding public relations programs, tools and practitioners after careful screening by select PR professionals and judging by a distinguished multisectoral jury.

Supported by USAID and The Asia Foundation, YouthLed’s Bago ang Lahat series aims to share stories about how change-makers and trailblazers in Philippine history were once students and young professionals who lived normal lives and aspired to do more for the country.

These podcasts are part of YouthLed’s initiatives to develop knowledge products that promote civic education to complement its efforts to increase civic engagement to strengthen the participation of Filipino youth in democracy.

In partnership with Pumapodcast, this creative audio experience serves as learning material for teachers and students and provides a platform for youth leaders to know the stories of preeminent figures in civil society and the private sector, former senior government officials and leaders of industry.

The Bago ang Lahat series hopes to help young Filipinos connect their stories to the stories of inspiring figures so that they, too, will be inspired to reach their potential and be co-builders of a better future for the Philippines.
