MANILA, Philippines — Some 400,000 tourism industry workers who were displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic may still avail of the one-time cash assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment.

DOLE assistant secretary Dominique Tutay said at a public briefing the workers may still apply for the COVID-19 assistance under the agency’s Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) for tourism workers.

While she noted that only about 171,000 tourism workers have availed of the program, the DOLE is “still open for application for workers in the tourism sector of more or less 400,000 potential beneficiaries.”

The CAMP for tourism workers has a budget of P3 billion and is targeted for 600,000 industry workers.

The program is a one-time assistance of P5,000 and is provided by DOLE to workers under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
