Andrew Tan feted for contribution to fight vs COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Alliance Global Group Inc. chairman Andrew Tan was recently given the Global Excellence Corporate Award by the International Chamber of Commerce-Philippines for his conglomerate’s valiant efforts in helping the government’s ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The honor was given in recognition of “the company’s efforts to increase the country’s testing capacity and improve diagnostic systems by the establishment of COVID-19 laboratories, provision for the needs of the masses by means of sponsoring programs such as Project Ugnayan and the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen, which fed thousands of urban poor families, and support for frontliners, government programs and local businesses through financial and material donations,” the ICCP citation read.
The initiatives form part of the more than P4 billion worth of donations and projects spearheaded by AGI since the start of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon in March.
Other programs include donating one million liters of disinfectant alcohol and food; distributing personal protective equipment to frontliners, construction workers, poor communities and other partner beneficiaries as well as donations to various local government units, hospitals and other organizations.
