MANILA, Philippines —

PCSO general manager Royina Garma has approved the release of the financial assistance to the Malasakit Centers in the Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP), Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City, Philippine Heart Center (PHC), University of the Philippines -Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Rizal Medical Center (RMC) and the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH).

The PCSO has allocated P1 million to the LCP Malasakit Center; P.4 million each to PCMC, TPDH and RMC. It also allocated P.5 million to PHC and P1.5 million to PGH.

The additional allocation for the six government hospitals, Garma said, will allow them to give out more medical assistance to those in need, especially in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Malasakit Center Law was principally authored by Sen. Christopher Go and signed into law by President Duterte last December. It serves as a one-stop desk or booth where patients can seek assistance from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Department of Social Welfare and Development and PCSO.

Garma had earlier said that of their projected P52 billion revenues for 2020, they have already earmarked P3 billion for turnover to PhilHealth for the government’s flagship universal health care program, and P3.1 billion to fund the Malasakit Centers.
