Obey rules or face arrest, Pinoys in Italy told
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine embassy in Rome advised Filipinos in Italy to comply with the Italian government regulations on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as violators may face fines of up to 206 euros or imprisonment of three months.
In accordance with the Italian government’s memorandum on March 9 on travel restriction in Italy, the embassy urged all Filipinos to avoid going out of the house except for work or health reasons and emergencies.
The embassy said travelers for other reasons must present “autodichiarazione” or self-declaration at police’s random control points. Travelers could ask for a form at the exact control points or print their own copy. The form can be downloaded on the Ministero dell ‘ Interno website at: Servizio sospeso|Ministero dell’Interno.
Filipinos should always bring their identification documents.
