LPA set to enter PAR; rainy week seen
MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility tomorrow and will bring rains over the eastern section of the country early next week.
The weather system is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.
By Monday, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Sorsogon, Samar provinces and Surigao del Norte as the low-pressure area moves closer to the eastern section of the Visayas-Mindanao area.
Quezon, the Bicol region and Samar will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as the weather system approaches the Bicol-Eastern Visayas area on Tuesday.
By Wednesday, the low-pressure area was forecast to dissipate. However, a frontal system will form east of Northern-Central Luzon area that will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon and Bicol region.
By Thursday and Friday, the frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Northern Quezon.
The rest of the country, particularly Cagayan Valley, will experience light rains due to the northeast monsoon during the outlook period.
Zero to one cyclone is likely to enter the country this month.
Last year, a total of 21 cyclones entered the Philippines; the last two – Tisoy and Ursula – were destructive.
