Magnitude 6.3 quake hits Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.3 earthquake yesterday jolted parts of Mindanao.
No casualty or damage was reported as of last night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor, which occurred at 7:37 p.m., was centered 22 kilometers east of Tulunan, North Cotabato.
Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity 7 – classified as “destructive” in Kidapawan City.
The agency warned of possible aftershocks.
Instrumental intensity 5 – classified as strong – was recorded in Tupi, South Cotabato and Alabel, Sarangani; Intensity 4 in Kiamba, Sarangani, T’boli, South Cotabato and General Santos City; Intensity 3, Cagayan de Oro City; Gingoog City and Misamis Oriental; and Intensity 1 in Dipolog City, Dipolog and Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
