MANILA, Philippines — Two low pressure areas are further enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will continue to dampen vast parts of Luzon and some portions of Visayas, weather forecasters said Tuesday.

An LPA, which was a remnant of former Tropical Depression Marilyn, was located 715 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

Another LPA was spotted 130 km west southwest of Iba, Zambales.

Both weather systems are boosting the southwest monsoon, which is affecting Central and Southern Luzon and Western Visayas.

Residents of Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Palawan and Mindoro provinces will experience monsoon rains due to the effects of southwest monsoon.

The southwest monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol region, Western Visayas, and the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.

Meanwhile, those living in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region will also have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough or extension of LPA.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail over Mindanao and the rest of the country. — Gaea Katreena Cabico
