MANILA, Philippines — Warm and humid weather will prevail in most parts of the country in the next three days even as a new cyclone may enter the country next week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.

The southwest monsoon, enhanced by Typhoon Liwayway will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales and Bataan until today.

Based on PAGASA’s weekly weather outlook, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the northern and western section of Luzon, except Palawan, tomorrow and on Monday due to the southwest monsoon.

The northeastern portion of Mindanao will also experience scattered rains during this period due to the trough or extension of a low-pressure area east Mindanao.

By Tuesday, the whole of Luzon will experience rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon while eastern Mindanao will continue to experience scattered rains due to the trough of a low-pressure area.

Cloudy skies and scattered rains will prevail over central and southern Luzon and the Visayas due to the convergence of the southwest monsoon and the trough of the low-pressure area on Wednesday, PAGASA said.

The weather bureau said a tropical cyclone may enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Sept. 12. The next cyclone will be given the local name Marilyn.

The agency said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would prevail over the Visayas due to the southwest monsoon on Thursday. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms.
