MANILA, Philippines — A man has been camping outside the soon-to-open branch of a well-loved Filipino fast-food chain in Edmonton, Canada for three days now.

On Wednesday (Manila time), Jollibee Canada posted a photo of a man falling in line at its first still closed branch in Edmonton which made rounds on social media.

This branch located at Carlgary Trail, Edmonton, will have a grand ceremony at 7 a.m. on Friday, August 16, (Canada time).

The fast-food chain earlier announced that the first 50 people in line who would purchase $25 or more worth of meals would have a chance to get a one-year supply of Jolly Crispy Chicken or one bucket of chicken per month for 12 months.

Aside from this, the first 50 customers to arrive with their creative banners bearing the hashtag "#ItsOurTurn" will get a special Jollibee Funko Pop toy figure.

Jollibee also said the first 300 customers would receive a Jollibee plush doll with a purchase of $25 or more worth of food.

The man on the photo, identified as 26-year-old Jordan Haworth by Canada’s Global News, did not pass up the chance to get these perks and set up a lawn chair outside the store ahead of its opening.

This amused Jollibee Canada and even reached Jollibee Philippines.

“Can you believe it? The first customer is already in line for the Grand Opening of #JollibeeEdmonton!” Jollibee Canada said in a Facebook post.

According to a report from Global News Canada, Haworth started camping outside the store at 9 a.m. on Tuesday (Canada time). He was reportedly being given food by the company as he waits in line for days.

The Canadian was quoted as saying that he wants to try the Filipino fast-food chain’s chicken after his mother who tried out the food in the Philippines raved about it.

Jollibee, which is eyeing to expand to Canada with its target 150 stores, is known as the “McDonald’s of the Philippines.”

It is famous for its crispy chicken, Filipino sweet-style spaghetti, fries and peach mango pie, among others.

The fast-food giant opened a branch in Canada in December 2016 but it now has four branches. Two of which are in Winnipeg while two others are in Mississauga and Scarborough, Toronto.

Jollibee ran by Jollibee Foods Corp. has over a thousand branches worldwide. These are located in the following countries: Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the USA.

In November 2017, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went out of his schedule and made a stop at a Jollibee branch in Manila at the sidelines of his ASEAN Summit visit.
