MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong on Wednesday issued an advisory enumerating the reported areas where Hong Kong protests would be held.

The consulate general advised the public to avoid these areas and refrain from wearing black or white.

The Palace early this week advised the public of traveling to Hong Kong amid the city unrest triggered by the Hong Kong people’s opposition to a planned law that would have allowed extraditions to mainland China. It said that “it’s not the right time to go to Hong Kong”

The rallies paralyzed the Hong Kong International Airport on Monday and Tuesday, with several flights grounded following demonstrations inside the travel hub.

Due to this, the Philippine consulate also urged the Filipinos departing from Hong Kong to contact their respective airlines five hours before their scheduled flights.

Below appears the list of the upcoming schedule of protests in Hong Kong, received by the Philippine consulate:

  • August 15 - Wan Chai Taxation Office

  • August 17 - Chater Garden, Central to Central Government Offices, Admiralty;

  • Hung Hom Pier to Sung Wong Toi Garden, Kowloon

  • August 18 - Victoria Park, Causeway Bay to Chater Road, Central

  • August 19 - "Clean up MTR carriages"

  • August 25 - Kwai Tiang Theatre, Kwai Chung to Tsuen Wan Park

For assistance, the Philippine consulate advised Filipinos to contact them in this hotline: (+825) 9155.4023. —Rosette Adel
