'Hanna' maintains strength, 'almost stationary' east of Cagayan
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Hanna (Lekima) has maintained strength and is almost stationary 815 kilometers east of Calayan in Cagayan, PAGASA said Tuesday.
In its early morning weather briefing, PAGASA said "Hanna" has maximum winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
Although the tropical storm is unlikely to make landfall, PAGASA said "Hanna" is affecting the southwest monsoon, or habagat, which will bring clouds to the western section of Luzon. That means southern Luzon and the Western Visayas can expect moderate to at times heavy rain during the day.
Metro Manila will have relatively sunny weather until the afternoon, when rain is likely to fall. PAGASA said rain will likely continue until the evening.
Visayas and Mindanao can expect partially cloudy to cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers, the weather bureau also said.
PAGASA is monitoring a tropical depression and a low pressure area, which are both outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
