Party-list coalition to vote as one
MANILA, Philippines — The 54 members of the Party-list Coalition in the House of Representatives reiterated yesterday their commitment to vote as one in the election of the next speaker.
Speaking for his group, coalition president Rep. Mikee Romero of 1-Pacman yesterday said he expects his members to respect such commitment despite their personal preferences once their group has selected the speaker candidate it would vote for.
He said he himself has a personal preference, “but I am just one vote.”
“After we do the process and select a speaker aspirant, even if I am on the losing side, I will abide by and vote for who the majority of our members will go with,” he said.
Romero pointed out that in the end, members of his coalition would still vote as one even if they have personal choices among those aspiring for the top House post.
The coalition is scheduled to meet next week to do its selection process.
