In Batangas, Go bats for access to quality education

MANILA, Philippines — Former special assistant to the president (SAP) and senatorial candidate Christopher “Bong” Go on Sunday bared his plans to further boost the government’s program to provide quality education for all Filipinos.

Go made the statement in his message during the general assembly of the scholars of Batangas Rep. Eileen Ermita-Buhain at the Balayan Covered Court in Balayan, Batangas.

“I want to promote additional government support to education, including free school supplies, uniforms and other school equipment,” Go told the EEB scholars.

Go was earlier in Lipa City with other senatorial candidates under the banner of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) for their kickoff rally, where the former SAP – who traces his ancestry in Batangas – received the support of the province’s leaders and residents.

The audience at Balayan gave Go an equally warm reception, giving him a standing ovation after he was introduced. However, Go said it was not necessary.

“I am just an ordinary public servant,” he said. “Ang dugo ko po ay Batanguenong Bisaya.”

Go told the audience that his grandparents are members of the Tesoro clan of the province but decided to migrate to Davao.

Explaining the programs he envisions for education, Go said these are meant to help realize the initiatives President Duterte started for the sector.
