MANILA, Philippines — Reelectionist Sen. Grace Poe dismissed the possibility of joining the presidential race again in 2022.

The senator ranked third in the 2016 presidential elections, garnering about 9.1 million votes.

Asked if she is considering a "take two" in the presidency, Poe said she already had her chance.

"Alam mo siguro nakalipas na ‘yon sapagkat nabigyan na ako ng pagkakataon. Marami naman diyang puwede na maaaring i-konsidera ng ating mga kababayan; kahit naman sa Senado marami rin naman tayong puwedeng maitulong," Poe said in an ambush interview in Manila on Monday.

(You know, that is already in the past because I already had my chance. Many others can still be considered by our countrymen; even in the Senate, we can also help in other ways.)

The senator also apologized for violating the Commission on Election's poster rules for the 2019 midterm elections.

Last week, the poll body issued a warning to 34 senatorial candidates, including Poe, with illegal posters and campaign materials.

"Paumanhin doon sa kung hindi man naaayon, kailangang ayusin; at sana naman, kung sila po ay maglalagay at magbibigay ng listahan, ‘wag naman po silang mamili na porke’t hindi nila kami kinakatakutan ay ilalagay na nila ang pangalan namin, samantalang ang iba na medyo mas—di bale, basta alam na naman ng tao—dahil iilan-ilan na nga lang ang sa amin, pinag-initan pa," Poe said.

(Sorry for the violation, that has to be fixed; but maybe, of they are releasing a list, please do not be selective just because they do not fear us they will already include our names, while others are more — never mind, as long as the people know — because only a few of us are being picked on.)

Poe, who topped the senatorial elections in 2013, remains the top choice of Filipinos in the forthcoming elections.

According to the latest Pulse Asia survey, 74.9 percent of respondents said they will vote for Poe in the May 2019 polls. She has been a consistent topnotcher in the last five senatorial polls of the survey firm.
