MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has again accredited the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) as its citizens’ arm for the May 13 midterm polls.

In an 11-page resolution, the Comelec approved the PPCRV’s application to serve as poll watchdog owing to its long track record.

“Wherefore, the instant petition is granted. The PPCRV is hereby accredited as citizens’ arm of the Commission under the latter’s direct and immediate control and supervision in the forthcoming elections,” the resolution stated.

The Comelec said it has taken into consideration PPCRV’s long history of participation in past electoral exercises as a partner of the poll body.

“The Commission would accordingly need all the help of all advocates of orderly and honest elections to assist it in the upcoming elections,” it said.

The Comelec noted that as a citizen arm, PPCRV will undertake information campaign on the conduct of elections and report campaign violations, among others.

It added the PPCRV will also help in encouraging voters to vote and designate watchers in polling precincts.
