Coldest morning: Metro Manila temperature drops to 19ºC

MANILA, Philippines — The temperature in Metro Manila dropped to 19 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning, the coldest recorded so far this northeast monsoon season.

The lowest temperature was recorded at around 7:50 a.m. at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Science Garden monitoring station in Quezon City.

Based on PAGASA data, the coldest days in Metro Manila were recorded on Feb. 4, 1987 and on Dec. 30, 1988, when the temperature plunged to 15.1 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the trough of a low-pressure area off Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur would bring cloudy skies over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Davao region today.

The northeast monsoon will still bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Ilocos region and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

The rest of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms.
