NDF exec, wife nabbed in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — A consultant of the National Democratic Front (NDF) and his wife were arrested during the service of a warrant of arrest in Bacoor, Cavite shortly after midnight yesterday.

NDF consultant Rey Claro Casambre, 67, and his wife Patricia, 65, were nabbed along Molino Boulevard in Barangay Niyog at 12:10 a.m. on board a Toyota Vios (XKS-821).

Police said Casambre, a member of the NDF negotiating panel, has a standing warrant for the non-bailable charges of murder as well as two counts of attempted murder, with bail of P120,000, issued by Judge Emilio Dayanghirang of the Davao Oriental Regional Trial Court Branch 32.  

Operatives from the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group also seized a Commander caliber 45 pistol, live ammunition, electric detonating cord, fragmentation grenade, laptop and P6,000 in cash from the husband and wife.

The two were arrested during Oplan Pagtugis and Paglalansag Omega, according to the initial report. 

Just last month, Vicente Ladlad, another NDF consultant, was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and explosives charges with two others at a supposed safe house in Quezon City where an AK-47 assault rifle, M16A1 assault rifle, 45 caliber pistol, four hand grenades and assorted ammunition were seized.
