MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism announced that they have accredited a total of 243 hotels in Boracay island.

The tourism agency released the updated list of accredited accommodation establishments a month after the world-famous island reopened to tourists.

In its latest bulletin, the DOT said the 243 establishments account to 9,248 rooms.

The roster includes Fairways and Bluewater Beach Resort with the highest number of rooms approved, 700.

The DOT reminded that establishments that are not accredited should cease and desist from making room bookings for sale.

“We would like to remind the public that only the Boracay Island accommodation establishments that are compliant with the requirements of the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources), the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government), and accredited by the DOT are allowed to accept bookings and reservations,” the DOT said.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat last month said that among the new guidelines to be strictly followed during the island reopening are the “no compliance, no opening policy” for establishments on the island.

It also previously said all online promotions and other related collaterals should be deleted or put on hold until their full compliance.

Prior to the island opening, the DOT released an initial list of only 25 accommodation establishments with a total of 2,063 rooms that complied with the requirements of the Boracay inter-agency task force.
