Go to fight for hike in teachers’ salaries
MANILA, Philippines — Noting that schoolteachers are equally important to public service, former special assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go over the weekend vowed to push for the increase of salaries of public school teachers.
The teachers, he said, sacrifice a lot to be able to provide students better education. Go said that he will remind President Duterte on the matter.
“The increase of the salaries of teachers was already promised by the President during the convention of school principals in Davao City,” Go said as he recalled the President saying he would gradually increase the salary of public school teachers.
However, he said, teachers will have to wait for the completion of the four-year salary standardization in 2019.
“If given a chance I will be your bridge to the President,” Go stressed. “Let us just wait for 2019. But as of this time, let me know if there is anything I can help you with and I will relay it to the President.”
Go stressed that like the President, he understands the plight of teachers which is why he wants to increase, if not double their salaries.
