Expect up to 2 tropical cyclones in November — PAGASA
MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos can expect one to two tropical cyclones to enter the country’s jurisdiction in November, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.
PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the tropical cyclones would either develop in the Pacific Ocean or inside the Philippine area of responsibility.
He added that the tropical cyclones during the last quarter of the year have stronger intensities and usually affect the central and southern part of the country.
The forecast is based on PAGASA’s data from 1948 to 2017.
Tropical Storm Rosita (international name: Yutu) left PAR last Wednesday.
Rosita, previously classified a typhoon when it cut across Luzon landmass Tuesday, left at least 15 people dead, figures from the Department of the Interior and Local Government said. Six individuals remained missing.
PAGASA said the trough or the extension of Rosita will still affect Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands as it heads toward southern China.
Last week, the state weather bureau announced that the season of northeast monsoon or “amihan” has officially begun.— Gaea Katreena Cabico
