Robredo to government: Explain P7.16 trillion debt
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo demanded yesterday transparency in the Duterte administration’s dealings as the government’s debt ballooned to P7.16 trillion in September.
“We demand the government to be transparent. We want to know where the government’s fund goes. Many are saying it goes to Build Build Build,” Robredo said, referring to the administration’s P8- to P9-trillion infrastructure program.
She also called on the government to be more transparent in its dealing with China.
“The people have the right to know, because in our case, we’re having a hard time looking for data. That’s why we are demanding for transparency,” the Vice President said during an interview in Legazpi City, Albay. “For example, what happen to the pledges by China? The PNR (Philippine National Railway project), the people of Albay and Camarines Sur have been waiting for this. We are not given clear updates on what to expect from this project.”
